The Creation of Attar (Natural Oil Fragrance)

'Itr' is the pure extract of flowers in sandalwood oil. The oil forms an ideal base for perfumes as during the distillation, the original perfume of sandalwood vanishes and the oil captures the fragrance of the flower. Exotic flowers are carefully picked from their trees. The flowers are placed in a container with water and carefully heated. The aroma which is released in this process is carefully collected into a receiver with sandalwood oil. The water and oil are then separated after condensation. This process is repeated and sometimes continues for weeks until the oil become saturated with the fragrance.

Attars have medicinal uses as well.
